Aaron Greene,
Director of Small District Partnerships
Aaron Greene recently retired from Polk County Schools where he served as Superintendent for 9 years. Prior to the Superintendency, Greene served as the Chief Academic Officer for the school system as well as service as high school principal, technology specialist and math teacher.
Greene, a former NC Teaching Fellow and NC Principal Fellow, is a proud graduate of Appalachian State University (1994) and UNC-Charlotte (2002). Greene later earned his Education Specialist degree from Appalachian State.
Under Mr. Greene’s leadership, Polk County Schools consistently performed among the top of the state in most academic and performance measures. Polk County Schools is regularly recognized as a “high-performing” district by other systems around the state. Greene brings his focus on student performance to the NC Peak team.
Mr. Greene was named 2021 Citizen of the Year in Polk County for his leadership during the COVID Pandemic. He was selected by his peers as the 2022-2023 Western Region Superintendent of the Year, and received the North Carolina School Superintendents Association 2023 Dr. Brad Sneeden Leadership Award.
With a deep understanding of the unique assets and challenges of small districts, Greene is poised to support North Carolina's small districts.
