Dr. Jan King,
President
NC Peak was founded in 2022 by Dr. Jan King of Hendersonville, NC.
Retired from Henderson County Public Schools where she was the Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services, Jan was recognized in 2010 as the Wells Fargo North Carolina Principal of the Year. Jan was awarded the 2021 Frances Jones Trailblazer Award by the NC Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) and in 2023 was recognized by NCPAPA with the Ralph Kimel award as well as the Cranford Community Service award by her local United Way.
As an educator with building-level experience that spans the PreK-12 spectrum, Jan believes in the power of feedback, mentorship and candid conversations to elevate learning and leadership. In addition to her work with NC Peak, Jan serves as an adjunct instructor and Principal Fellows Leadership Coach at Western Carolina University.
Jan enjoys seeing her community thrive. She serves on the Board of Trustees at Blue Ridge Community College, and the Board of Directors at The Community Foundation of Henderson County. She previously served on the Board of Directors at Bullington Gardens, the Henderson County Boys & Girls Club and Hands On Children's Museum. She also served on an Advisory Council for the College of Education and Allied Professions at Western Carolina University. Jan is an active member at Mills River United Methodist Church, where she currently enjoys membership on several committees as the congregation's Lay Leader.
