Dr. Melanie Taylor retired from Iredell-Statesville Schools with over 28 years of experience in education. She began her career as a Business and Career Development teacher at the middle school level before advancing into leadership roles. For 12 years, she served as the Chief Academic Officer/Deputy Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, overseeing all areas of curriculum. Prior to that, she was a school administrator at the elementary level and the Executive Director for Elementary Curriculum and Title I.
A proud member of the first cohort of North Carolina Teaching Fellows, Dr. Taylor has a strong background in data-driven decision-making. She has presented at numerous state and national conferences, sharing her expertise in improving student outcomes through continuous improvement efforts.
Dr. Taylor earned a B.S. in Business and Marketing Education from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and both an M.Ed. and Ed.D. in School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
