Dr. Sonja Parks

Director of District Support for Operations

Dr. Sonja Parks has 32 years of experience as an educator and leader. She recently retired as the Assistant Superintendent of Operations and Logistics in Rockingham County Schools and was awarded The Order of the Long Leaf Pine from North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper.

Since 2014, Sonja has worked with transportation, school nutrition, maintenance, facilities, safety, student assignment and technology departments.

Prior to this role she served as the Director of Elementary Education, Title I and AIG for Davidson County Schools. She has also served as a K-12 Beginning Teacher Coordinator, administrator, and elementary teacher for Davidson County Schools. 

She has a Doctoral Degree in Educational Leadership from High Point University, Master’s Degree in school administration from UNC-Charlotte, and a Bachelor’s Degree in elementary education from Appalachian State University.

Sonja also serves as an adjunct professor at Appalachian State University and works with the doctoral program to prepare educators for district leadership.

She looks forward to providing feedback, support and mentorship to schools and districts to help elevate learning and leadership.
